Turning recruitment data into live gamification

Saragossa are a recruitment consultancy based in Bristol and London. They provide talent to the Financial Technology, Financial Operations, and Data Science sectors and handle everything from temporary placements to building permanent teams. After using Bullhorn Recruitment Software for several months they wanted to surface its data in a modern, transparent way that would motivate consultants and increase adoption of the CRM.

Manager Jason Howlin contacted us to explore whether gamification could drive engagement and productivity. This page outlines what we delivered and how we integrated with Bullhorn to achieve it.

Challenge

Build a web-based application with two points of entry that talks to the Bullhorn API and displays live activity on large screens in two offices while giving managers deeper reporting. The experience needed to reflect Saragossa’s brand and encourage healthy competition.

  • Access via subdomain with secure logins for managers and consultants.

Solution

We created a multi-entry web application that consumes Bullhorn data, applies Saragossa’s visual identity, and surfaces KPIs in real time. Consultants see live performance dashboards and rotating activity screens, while managers can log in to adjust targets, run reports, and manage users.

Delivery steps

  • Creation of Functional Specification (1 week): Collaborative workshops, onsite meetings, and Bullhorn API access/sandbox preparation.
  • Implementation (1–2 months): Data mapping, coding, and frequent progress updates while we tested internally before demos.
  • Demo & Acceptance (1–2 weeks): Version 1 released to management for verification, feedback, and iterations until sign-off.
  • Release: Final build approved, test data removed, application deployed on Saragossa’s systems, and managers/users onboarded.
  • Go Live: Installed in Bristol and London offices with training for more than 30 users; minor fixes were unnecessary thanks to thorough testing.

Outcome

The app immediately delivered the transparency Saragossa were aiming for. Productivity data is now displayed to the whole business, helping consultants understand progress and managers monitor performance.

The application runs as a Saragossa subdomain, pulling live Bullhorn data, and can be managed entirely by the leadership team, including adding new users.
